Opening Weekend!

Well Six Flags had its opening weekend last week and was it an interesting one. Friday started quite slow, It looked to be alot of people in the park however the turnout for caricatures was a little weak. I remember last year it was difficult to train the nubs we had gotten so busy. Even the special $20 tickets to enter the park didn't convince more patrons to spend there cash on caricatures. I think we ended the day ok but over all not great.

We did however make up for it with Saturdays Awesome sales. We started that day with a few early sales, and it did slow around lunch time but once it hit 2 o'clock we where on full blast. Our new employee was even able to hold his own against the hoard of guest. I had decided from fridays performance that he was ready to sell full time, and I was right as he work his own till all day. I myself even got to do some drawing at our Blue ribbon booth at the end of the day.

But it all fell apart as Sunday called for rain. Even though it didn't actually start raining till 230 or 3 the damage had already been done as the forecast for the day looked grim. With a low turnout at the park it seemed only natural that it would hit us hard. even our nice covered areas didn't convince the guests getting a caricature was a nice way to stay dry.

All in all I think it was a great weekend. We definitely have a great crew this year and I hope to make lots of money. Maybe even enough to get that BBQ....

Are we ready yet?

Hey so we are looking at just 2 short days till we open up at Six Flags! Oh man I cant wait to be done setting up and down to just drawing. Anyway Gary, Robin and I got both booths open and ready for artists and customers this weekend by removing the plastic and doing some last minute cleaning. We even added the new prices to the register and setup the umbrellas and various other work necessities.

We also got the Body art stands ready to go, we however wont have the Pandemonium stand ready for at least a couple weeks so we'll have to use the Thunder river stand till its done. The booths however are nice and clean and ready to do arts!

But don't forget we are in full swing at our stand down at the STL Zoo. We are currently only running one stand, but i've got a nice list of new artist ready to work as well as some new pricing we will be trying out for the next few weeks. I wanted to wait till we got our new registers before the price change but the boss man wants us to try the new prices at the Zoo before we start using them at the Flags. Anyway alot of new and exciting stuff going on and we still haven't even set up Grants Farm!

More Training!

We are back up here at the Stone Spiral getting some trainings done.  The nubs are advancing quite well. I had them mostly practicing wit colors and drawing each other. I really want them to get comfortable drawing others live, even if its just in our group. I also had them draw each other at the start before the lessons. Then had them do drawings of each other at the end of the session to see if they had improved and if I was having any impact on there development.

We have another great group of rookies this year and I cant wait to see how they develope in the next few months.

Its trainin' time!

So setup at the Sone Spiral in maplewood today to start training some noobs. Four of our new hires plus Jacob from back in my six flags days. It was all in all a productive day as I was able to get them started in drawing each other and practicing with thee line quality. We also had a visit from the great Colin Adams who was able to take over teaching the noobs the art sticks while I was able to have lunch with Teena.

Bringing me to another of todays exciting events Teena came by and had lunch before the boys and I (the boys being Colin and Greg) headed out to the Esquire to see 10 Cloverfield Lane. Good movie by the way. The was he crazy or wasn't he theory of the whole move kept it quite exciting. I wont spoil it for you but it was quite entertaining.

Back at the Zoo!

Hey guys so another exciting year of caricatures has begun here at the zoo.  Actually just had a great pre start day of it curtasy of the gray weather we had today. A nice 70ish? degrees with snow tomorrow? Anyways the full season begins Saturday the 15th so get your family and your friends and head on down for some cool animal watching, and don't forget to spend some money at my both as well. Anyways I had some fun today so enjoy pyon!

Theme Day

Another awsome day at Work yesterday^^. It also seemed to be crazy theme day 'cause I got alot of requests for themes. I didnt take pics of all of them, but I have 3 here to show you guys just what I was doing all day. The last one is my fav. the dad wanted them to both have supergirl capes but I thought that would be stupid so I made one of the wonder woman. I am happy with the results. The day itself turned out to be really good as well, working almost non stop after it rained a bit after lunch.

I can only hope that doday will be as good as yesterday was. hopefuly... But if not I will at least get some good reading in. well later pyon

SixFlags Caricatures!

Well got some more caricatures to show you, this time from six Flags so they are in pencil with airbrush. I always seem to forget to take pics these days but I at least got two. If you were wondering we haven't been as busy as we normally have been but we're doing ok. I hope it picks up in july at least^^

I was thinking back the other day as to why I had made this blog in the first place and remembered it was to post caricatures. Well here we are 2 yrs. later and now i have a whole mess of caricatures^^. So yeah anyway Worked sunday wich wasent so bad but monday gahhhhhhhhhhh i could've died! i was so bored.... anyway the last pic is the only pic I took on monday the rest are from Sunday.

On another note paid for Natsucon today YAY! thats not till the sumer still so all is good. Lets not forget Dennis Baker SuperHero wich is all ready and sent to the printers. I'll post the cover next time. Dan and I are only printing 50 copies wich will all be at Star clipper, so if you want one you gotta get to the Delmar loop on May 7 before their sold out!

Caricatures!

Hey gang had a pretty good day at work yesterday, guess what I even drew some ppl^^. Lol anyways i only remembered to take one pic and then I forgot to take one of the ppl too. Oh well mabe next time.

I also worked on the cover for the Dennis Baker Superhero promo comic I'm doing for free comic book day. I was gunna color it today but it might have to wait till Sat. i got some other stuff I want to finish first.

Oh did I mention I started playing pokemon again. Chris was playing blue at the mall last friday and I just had to play it too, i had forgoten how awsome it was. with the game being so old you can get it and the system for like 30 bucks so i did and been killing time at the metro station every day sence^^. I bought pokemon yellow wich I didnt have bak then so i wanted to try it out, just passed brocks gym so im doing good so far.
