This is the first design I did that made it onto the website. We really only had the Naruto character at the time, and I really wanted more anime inspired designs on the site.  It was first made for conventions but after doing so well it was later added to the website. I have even done the other scouts from time to time. But Sailor moon is the only scout on the site so far.

I'm sure you've all seen our Joker GameCube controller. It's one of our more popular designs. Back when they were making new Smash themed designs to update the old smash 4s, the graphic artist we had at the time came out with this super ambitious completely impossible to paint design. I wish I had the pdf to show you how ridiculous it was. So, I went ahead and used some of the assets he had on hand and created this one. 

I'm verry happy with the results and it remains one of our top sellers even with the top layer in Smash U switching to Byleth.

Spider Gwen controller

 

Since I'm talking about controllers I designed at work. Here is a Spider Gwen controller I worked on back when the movie "Into the Spiderverse" came out. I really wanted to do Miles but my manager at the time wanted to do that one himself. So, I decided I wanted to do Spider Gwen also. I have always been a fan of her character design. I actually think most of the spiderman designs are some of the best costumes and alternate costumes of any superhero.

Anyway, at first, I wanted to put the eyes where the spider is but my manager decided it would look better with the spider. It turned out pretty good too if you ask me. The design is not one of our best sellers, but it does sell rather regularly so I'm happy about that. So, you're probably confused as to why I'm posting Ahegao pics instead of Bookworm Chapters.  Well, these are actually for a controller I did for work about a year or so ago.  You see one of our more popular designs is the Ahegao design created by one of our team members. He actually did a good job of compiling the images to make sure we didn't have any overlap with any other Ahegao designs.  However, the person who made the render for the website used a preexisting collage he found of the internet to make the renders.  Now we obviously used the original image to hydro dip on our controllers however someone who owned the image that was used for our website renders asked us to take it down. 

Well after that our boss was afraid, we could lose one of our biggest sellers. So, they asked me to make a completely new design but with all new drawings not just a collage of images found on the internet. The images above are just some of the art that I drew for the project. In all I drew about 60 different images to make the collage. I did just draw the faces however to save time and paper. 

However, by the time I was done the whole thing had sorted itself out. Once they realized we didn't use the same image on the controller that was on the website everything was fine. The did however keep my collage and put it up on the website. It is the Waifu edition, and they have it for all controllers. The original is still up and is the featured design so it may be hard to find mine. I am still glad to see it up there and people do buy it sometimes.

Spring Anime 2022

 

Time for another anime list. These are the spring 2022 anime I watched till the end this season. Won't include any old stuff I watched for the first time on streaming and just stick to the new goodies. First is of course Spy X Family. Probably in line to be one of the best anime this year. The cast of characters where great and the balance of home and school life was well paced. I would have like it to be a 26 ep show so we can get more of Anyas school stuff. However, I am still pleased with how it all went down. If you're a fan of slice of life anime with action elements, I'd say it's a good bet you will like this one too.

Next is Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san, this one is purely slice of life and I love it. I think it might be a manga as well and I may have to look for it. But the story follows the title character and her clutz of a boyfriend. She pretty much spends most of each episode protecting him from whatever danger his incredibly bad luck sends his way. Mostly played to lighthearted I found every episode light and fun. Some of the side characters were also interesting to watch and made the whole series great. I recommend this if you like slice of life where the main couple isn't stressing over whether they should get together or not because they are already together when the story begins.

Another great show was Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu. I was skeptical at first when watching the trailer for this anime. I was sure the MC being armored up the whole time would mean excessive CGI. I was pleased however when the anime started that they kept it pretty tame and mostly just the action scenes had any noticeable CGI work. The show follows a man that was isekaid to another world as the avatar for whatever video game he was playing. Similar to Ains in Overlord he is a skeleton character, however this guy is just your average OP adventurer. He fairly quickly runs into a bust elf chick whom he then helps on whatever quest she is doing for the rest of the series. While I may have liked a more layed back story where the MC just does different quests all day, this was actually good itself in its own way. It's another Isekai but if you're not sick of them yet I recommend this one.

It's time to talk about Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari Season 2, just like the first season this was really good. It started with a pretty cool giant monster battle. That ended with the MC isekaing himself. I don't know how to talk about it without giving too much away. But if you liked the first season you are sure to like this as well.

So, I thought I would get to all of them at once this time, but it looks like I'm ready to finish this post for now. If you have the time, I recommend anyone who has liked any of the shows I have previously recommended watch these. I am sure we have simal tastes by now and you will enjoy these. I will try and finish the list with my next post, but no promises. I do also still have the next bookworm chapter to translate.

Well can you believe it I've finally finished chapter 13. Now that I am back to the regular flow of chapters I will also go back to my old release schedule. Vtuber custom controllers

 

Been working on some new controller designs lately. Mostly V-tuber themed I have Projeky Melody, Gawr Gura, and Pekora. I have a few more I want to work on so i'll try and have pictures next week.

Custom Clow cards!

 

Remember those Cardcaptor Sakura Weiss cards I was making a few weeks ago? Well, when I was happy with how the cards looked, I went ahead and had some printed. I sent the files to Boardsgamemaker.com and they did a great job with the printing. Cards feel very close to Weiss standard, size is right, and the weight of the stock feels almost perfect. I'm going to sleeve them and try playing a few games with them when I get a chance.

Mermaid update

 Well, I was thinking of updating the next chapter of Bookworm today. However, typesetting 38 pages is taking longer than id like. So I will just put these pics of the mermaid controller I took today. As you can see it looks way better on the shell. I tried to take a pic of the rainbow-colored scales reflecting in the light. Not sure if it came out ok.

Mermaids and controllers

 

Well, they finally put my Mermaid controller up on the website. I am kind of conflicted about these renders though. I painted the controller from scratch when I was designing it so I wasn't sure how it would look on paper. I kind of feel like these miss the mark a bit. My main issue is that they were having trouble expressing the rainbow scales I put in the front of the shell. You actually can't see them at all here which sucks because I think it makes the whole controller.  I'm also curios as to why, they decided to make the PS5 trim white instead if continuing the image. I'll have to take some pictures when i get a chance so you can get a good look at them.

Well at least the back still looks really good. Anyway, if anyone is interested in picking themselves up a cool mermaid controller you can find it on the company website for Controller Chaos. I think they went ahead and made a design for every console. At least give it a look if you get the chance.

Season3 - Act2 end

 They Finished the last episode of Season 3 in Ascendence of a Bookworm today. This marks the end of Act 2. I'm so excited and can't wait for them to announce the next chapters. It's basically what I'm translating now but it would be great to see it animated.

Anyways about this season there was some great stuff in here. The traveling for spring prayers and the big fight against the devouring mob. We also got to meet Sylvester for the first time. Not as much Freida as I would have liked but can't win 'em all, I guess.

The last battle against the Head priest was also very good. I'm glad to see Main putting all her reading of scriptures to good use in learning her blessings.

I will probably re-watch the series again later this year. I just love this world so much. I'm also still working on that Weib Schwarz set so I need to recap and get some reference.

Chapter 07

 It's here chapter 7, I'm almost done catching up to the chapters I couldn't find before. The next will be the last chapter 8 and it's a doozie, like 37 pages or so I think. I could check but not right now. I also notice a lot more people finding my translations lately. I do hope you all are enjoying them; you will have to pardon any mistakes as I am doing this myself with google translate. I of course read over all the translations to make sure the sound ok and in plain English, however some things just make no since so I just guess that stuff.

BOOKWORM

Bookworm WS cards

 

Started on some cards. Going with a devouring theme for the early Main cards. Mostly overpowered cards that don't stand next turn. I also added an event to help stand your cards back up. Mains later cards will be blue priest based, but I haven't started on those yet. I added a Freida card because she is my favorite character and I want to make a deck around her too. Still don't know exactly how I want this deck to be played. I'm sure I'll have as much fun as with the clow cards figuring this stuff out.

Chapter 6

 Finished another chapter for you all. Decided to spend the day doing this after spending so much time on the clow cards.

I've also decided to start work on a Ascendence of a Bookworm Weiss custom set. Don't really have a clear vision like I did with the clow cards, but I'll work on it slowly. Already spent some time online looking for good screen captures for the card art.

Cardcaptor UPDATE

 

Well after discussing some of the rules and card reactions with some people I made some changes. The basic principle of how the cards is played is the same, I just cleaned up the text, so they run correctly. I don't want people to have to assume this is how the cards are to be played. I want anyone who knows the rules of WS to be able to play the cards correctly without having to guess my intentions. So anyway, after some discussion this is what we decided.

So, I added the skills of the clow cards to the REPLAY function so there is no accidental triggering of those effects when a card is played. Now the send to memory action is the only action that can be triggered when the card is played, and you need the companion cards to trigger the REPLAY Release ability. So far from what I know about Weiss everything checks out. I will just have to wait for more people to check out my cards to see if there are any holes I missed.

But at any rate I also went and added a few cards I was thinking about. Mostly Tomoyo cards but I did add one Syaoran card. anyway I will be adding more slowly as they come to me. I am still having lots of fun play testing the deck and finding out all the interesting interactions you can have with the clow cards.

Well, I finally got around to making my custom Weiss Cardcaptor Sakura set. I remember when the first announced the Clear Card set a few years ago. I didn't really watch the series, but I was very excited to see what they would do with the Sakura cards. I was of course disappointed when the set finally did drop and there were only 4 cards you could put in your deck. I told myself at the time I would try and make a deck that focused more heavily on the cards.

And now I've done it! Well sort of. I managed to finish all 55 or so cards, as well as a few characters and interactions to go with them. I slightly copied the format from lost decade, where you have item cards as events that you can "equip" to your players. They go to memory after use if you have a good field set-up, and back into your hand next turn so you can play them again.

I decided to try slightly different tactic. You send the clow cards to memory either by paying the cost to play them from hand or use the effects of some of the companion characters to get them in memory. I decided to use the Key staff as an event you can play to activate the cards that are in memory. This gives you a nice pool of effects to choose from to help you as you play. I wanted it to feel like you can adjust your playstyle on the fly and be ready for anything your opponent might play. I also made the key staff an event with a counter that goes to memory after play, then back to your hand on the next turn. So, if you get all 4 in your hand you can strategize on whether or not you want to play some on your turn to get an advantage or use them as counters to stop your opponent from getting their skills off.

I've been having a lot of fun play testing. Figuring out how many Clow cards I can fit into the deck and have it still run properly is my main focus at the moment. I will include a link to my google drive if you want to check out the cards. Feel free to print them out yourself or add the images to TTS and give it a test drive. CARDCAPTOR SAKURA CLOWCARD DECK

Kanna R/Y WS deck

Guess I'll start getting to these Weiss decks now. We can start with my Kanna deck. Kobayashi just came out last month I think, or the week before. Anyway, its dual color which is strange for a waifu deck but technically not the first deck I've build like this. Haven't had a lot of opportunities to play the deck so far, Mushoku Tensei also recently released, and I built 2 decks out of that so I've been playing those more. Still playing mostly on discord though. Hopefully when the local anime shop moves places later this month they will open back up fot in person matches.

So the first main combo in the deck is the lvl 1  CX COMBO. The main card has a fairly good skill on reverse activation with the CX. If op is reversed I can choose 1 of 2 effects: salvage one or lvl down one of ops characters. There is also another lvl 1 card that pairs well with the combo that on play discard 1 trait character to search for the card for the combo. I can also tap it to give 1 of those cards +1000 +1 soul.

 The lvl 3 CX COMBO is very interesting too. It has a 2/1 change card that on play I can discard to search for the event. The 2/1 also changes at start of CX pay 1 discard 2, add card to hand to change into the Lvl 3. Now this card has an experience of 4 to give +1000 and -1 soul to the slot across. The CX COMBO is also interesting because it activates if the CX is in WR. On attack discard and I can salvage the event and then the card gets +2000 and -1 soul for the opposing slot cross turn. Which is pretty great because with the experience effect and the CX its a -2 soul cross turn and even if they flash her to memory it could still be at least -1 soul. Now the event is nice as its a resonate the CX and top check, If its lvl 0 or lower burn for 3, anything else burn 1 and heal 1.

I've had some success with is so far. and because of the experience I did put some lvl swap in the deck. Also, the backup is a mill 3 which is pretty handy sometimes. I feel I just have some of the worst luck at time and end up having a good number of cards left in my deck with no CX, and that helps to mill my deck, so I don't die as fast.

I'll try and get to the Mushoku decks next time. Enjoy~pyon
